Jess Tosh

I am London based artist, specialising in hyper realistic graphite and charcoal drawings. I work mostly in black and white, enjoying the drama and depth this allows me to build whilst focussing on the finer details.

Since graduating from Northampton University in 2012 I have practised and developed my art alongside a career in media; at the start of 2021 I was able to step away from the world of advertising and start life as a full time artist. As each drawing can take over 60 hours, this has already had a massive impact on the amount of art I am able to produce.

I have always been fascinated by the smaller details in life, by all of the tiny bits of information that when combined create our individually perceived realities. A face does not just consist of two eyes, a nose and a mouth, it is the lines, textures and even the very pores that make up a face, totally unique to that individual. Drawing in such detail allows me to explore and understand the world around me in a way that wouldn’t be possible with the naked eye or a photograph.

I sell original artwork, limited editions prints and I also take commissions.
